Some Users Report Issues Redeeming Their Free One-Year Apple TV+ Subscription

Apple is reportedly offering redeem codes to customers that are eligible for the company’s Apple TV+ 1-year subscription offer, but that are having issues activating the free offer.

Apple TV+ debuted on November 1, and Apple customers that purchased a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac after September 10 are supposed to score a free year’s subscription to the new streaming service for free.

The trial is supposed to be offered to users that launch the Apple TV app on any qualifying Apple device. However, many users report they are not seeing any sign of the trial offer they should be enjoying.

While some users are reporting luck with performing the following steps:

  1. Open a desktop web browser, go to https://tv.apple.com and log in with your Apple ID credentials.
  2. You should be able to accept the 1-year free trial offer from there.
  3. On your iPhone, sign out of the TV app, close it, then launch the app and log-in again.
  4. Your one-year Apple TV+ trial subscription should now be active.

Users that say the above steps didn’t work for them say they have contacted Apple Support, who was able to generate a unique 1-year offer code to be redeemed in the App Store.

You should have at hand the following information: your macOS/iOS version, proof of purchase and date of purchase, and the name of the store where you bought the qualifying Apple product.

While users will see a code confirmation saying the service is free for 1-week, lower down, the confirmation shows that the user’s paid subscription won’t begin until November 2020.
