Kuo: 2021 iPhone Will Have No Ports Whatsoever

Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is already making predictions about Apple’s 2021 iPhone lineup. The well-connected analyst says at least one 2021 iPhone model will have no ports whatsoever.

While it had been expected that Apple might switch its iPhone lineup over to USB-C at some point (as they have their iPad Pro lineup), Kuo says the 2021 iPhone will “provide the completely wireless experience” (via 9to5Mac).

Kuo says he expects the charging port to be removed from the flagship iPhone first. This means all charging and syncing for the device would be performed via wireless. This could be seen as a drawback, as currently, if you’re charging your device wirelessly you cannot use it while it’s being charged.

Perhaps Apple thinks the 2021 iPhone will have a burly enough battery that it will not need to be charged after an overnight charging session, or perhaps the Cupertino firm has figured out a way to transmit power wirelessly from across the room. Okay, maybe that one is a stretch, but…

Kuo hasn’t skipped speculating on the 2020 iPhone lineup, as he still believes a new “iPhone SE 2” will make an appearance in early 2020, which will resemble a 4.7-inch iPhone 8, but boasting improved internal components. Kuo also believes Apple will release an “iPhone SE 2 Plus” model in 2021 with a 5.5-inch or 6.1 display.

As usually, even when Kuo is the source, take reports like these with a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash (much healthier than salt). We won’t know anything for sure until Apple makes an official announcement.
