Apple Acknowledges iPhone XR Connectivity Issues on UK’s O2 Network, Is Working on a Software Fix

Apple has acknowledged that the iPhone XR is not working properly on U.K. wireless network O2. The BBC News reports Apple is working on a fix.

“We are aware of an issue causing intermittent network connectivity effecting [sic] some O2 customers, and we will have a fix in an upcoming software release,” the company said.

The Apple statement comes on the heels of yesterday’s reports of multiple iPhone XR users being unable to maintain a useable signal on their iPhone XR devices on the O2 network.

Customers are unable to make and receive calls, send and receive texts, and cannot maintain a steady LTE connection for app use.

O2 did not disclose how many users were affected by the issue but said customers that are experiencing issues can turn the iPhone off and back on again to temporarily resolve the issue.

One O2 customer told BBC News that he first noticed a problem back on December 16.

“I’ve had virtually no signal at all since,” he said. “It may come with a weak signal for a few minutes once or twice a day then go again.”

One customer with a misbehaving device says he was told by an O2 customer service agent that Apple was responsible for the issue, and had caused it with a recent iOS update. The last iOS update released by Apple was iOS 13.3 on December 10, 2019.

BBC News reports O2 and Apple are telling customers looking for answers on Twitter to direct message them for help.
