Apple Seeds Fifth Beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.4 to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple Seeds Fifth Beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.4 to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple on Tuesday seeded the fifth beta of their upcoming macOS Catalina 10.15.4 operating system to developers and public beta testers for testing. The new beta comes one week after the fourth beta release of macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

The new developer build can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center by participants in the program, or as a software update for Macs that have the proper profile installed from the Developer Center.

The macOS Catalina‌ 10.15.4 beta offers real-time lyrics, bringing an iOS feature already introduced in iOS 13 to the Mac. Real-time lyrics scroll song lyrics in real-time to the music.

It also includes Screen Time Communication Limits and brings a new Head Pointer Accessibility option that allows the cursor to be controlled with head movements using a Mac camera.

References to AMD processors have also been discovered in the beta, which could indicate an AMD-powered Mac may be on the way, or it could mean that the reference is only for internal testing at Apple.

Apple is also adding a new universal purchase option for macOS and iOS apps, to allow Apple device users to purchase one app that works across multiple platforms.

So far, we don’t know what other changes or improvements the update carries, but it more than likely includes performance updates, security improvements, and bug fixes for issues that weren’t fixed in Catalina 10.15.3.

If anything new is discovered in the second beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.4 release, we’ll be sure to let you know in this space.

As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on your daily driver Mac, instead only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
