Apple Improves German-Speaking Siri Voice on iOS and HomePod Devices

Apple has updated the speaking voice of Siri on devices for German-speaking users. The news comes from reports shared by iphone-ticker.de (via ifun.de).

“Almost three years after Apple’s software boss Craig Federighi announced during the launch of iOS 11 that the in-house voice assistant Siri would sound significantly more human in the future,” says the site, “Apple now seems to delight German users with new Siri voices.”

The website reports several readers have reported Siri’s German speech now sounds more natural and melodic than before, especially on the HomePod. The reports indicate the changes are subtle, and include better pronunciation and different inflection, depending on what is being said.

Federighi has announced an update for all Siri voices, starting with the U.S. one, during his presentation at WWDC 2017. “We’re making a big upgrade to your primary interface in dealing with Siri, and that’s Siri’s voice,” he said. “We’ve used deep learning now to create a really natural and expressive voice for Siri.”

The update arrived for U.S. users alongside the debut of iOS 11. Apple improved ‌Siri‌’s British and Australian voices to be more natural back in February 2019.
