‘Defending Jacob’ Reportedly Setting Apple TV+ Viewing Records

Apple’s latest drama, “Defending Jacob” is apparently a huge hit with Apple TV+ viewers, as industry sources say the new drama is showing higher viewing numbers and audience engagement than most shows on the service.

The character-based thriller is proving so appealing that most viewers that sample the show come back for another episode. The first three episodes of the series debuted on May 1 and Deadline reports its sources tell them that most viewers watched all of them. The publication says nearly all viewers came back to view episode 4 the following week.

Sources say the audience for the show grew by five times during the show’s first 10 days of availability. That would put “Defending Jacob” behind only “The Morning Show” as the most popular series on Apple TV+.

The first five episodes of “Defending Jacob” are currently available on Apple TV+ with the remaining there episode set to be released weekly on Fridays.

Defending Jacob is a “gripping, character-driven thriller based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, and starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel, and Sakina Jaffrey. The limited drama series unfolds around a shocking crime that rocks a small Massachusetts town and one family in particular, forcing an assistant district attorney to choose between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son.”
