iOS 14 Again Said to be Compatible With All iOS 13 Compatible Devices

Another website claims iOS 14 will be compatible with all iPhone and iPod touch models that run iOS 13. Israeli site The Verifier says the compatibility data was allegedly found in a leaked version of iOS 14 and has been confirmed by what The Verifier says is a “trusted source from the system development process.”

iOS 13 is compatible with iPhone models iPhone 6s and later, the full list is below, sorted from newest device to oldest.

  • 2020 iPhone SE
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
  • 2016 iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
  • iPod touch (7th-generation)

The site indicates iOS 14 will be the last version of iOS to support the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and 2016 iPhone SE. Apple traditionally offers iOS updates for four to five years after the release of a device.

At this point in time, we don’t know which iPads will be iPadOS 14 compatible, but if it follows the same iOS 13 compatibility level as iOS 14, it should work on the following iPads:

  • iPad Air 2
  • 3rd-gen iPad Air
  • iPad mini 4 and 5
  • 5th, 6th, and 7th-generation iPad
  • All iPad Pro models.

As is normal, none of this is set in stone until Apple’s all-digital WWDC 2020 event, which kicks off on June 22.

While The Verifier doesn’t exactly have the most solid track record when it comes to Apple-related leaks, the report does jibe with a previous report from French site iPhoneSoft.fr who also said iOS 14 will be compatible with all iOS 13-able devices.
