Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple to Launch Third-Generation AirPods First Half 2021 – Similar Design to AirPods Pro

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple has plans to launch its third-generation AirPods with a design similar to its AirPods Pro in the first half of 2021.

The TF International Securities analyst, in a note obtained by MacRumorsalso reiterated his earlier comments that iPhone 12 models will not include EarPods in the box, which he says will help boost 2021 EarPods shipments.

The AirPods Pro, introduced in November 2019, feature an in-ear design that offers three different sizes of soft, silicone tips in the box, and features shorter stems below the ear. They also offer several other improvements over the original AirPods, such as active noise cancellation, improved sound quality, and sweat/water resistance,

Kuo also expects Apple to offer an AirPods promotion sometime in the second half od 2020, perhaps offering a discount when customers purchase AirPods alongside an iPhone 12.

Currently, Apple prices its second-generation AirPods with wired charging case for $159, while a second-gen pair with a wireless charging case goes for $199. AirPods Pro, which includes a wireless charging case will set you back $249.
