Epic Games Says Apple Is Giving Them an ‘Indefinite Extension’ for Access to the ‘Sign in with Apple’ Feature

Epic Games had previously claimed that Apple was disabling their users’ access to the “Sign in with Apple” feature, possibly locking them out of their Epic Games accounts. Now the developer says Apple has given them an “indefinite extension” to the feature.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Epic had warned gamers that use Sign in with Apple to connect to their accounts to make sure their email and password were up to date and also offered an FAQ on how to update an account email address and password so they didn’t lose access to their Epic Games accounts.

However, in a Thursday tweet, Epic told followers that

Apple had “reversed course” and would not terminate “Sign in with Apple” support by Sept. 11. However, the Twitter account still recommends that Epic Games users “prepare” their accounts for the removal of the feature.

It isn’t clear if Epic’s original comments about Apple’s disabling of “Sign in with Apple” compatibility with Epic Games’ apps are completely true.

Apple has told The Verge that it was not actively seeking to disable “Sign in with Apple” compatibility with Epic Games. So, that battle of words and lawsuits continues.
