A regulatory filing published by TENAA, the Chinese equivalent of the FCC, shows that Apple’s new iPhone 12 Pro Max is powered by a 3,687 mAh battery, which is around 7% less capacity than the 3,969 mAh battery in the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The regulatory filing, first spotted by MacRumors, also lists the iPhone 12 Pro Max with 6GB of RAM, which jibes with benchmark results we saw last week. Earlier this year, we also saw a rumor that claimed the iPhone 12 Pro Max would have a 3,687 mAh battery.
Apple has filed the specs on numerous products with TENAA over the years, and the listings have proven to be accurate numerous times. Last year’s filings accurately revealed the battery and RAM capacities of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Despite the smaller battery, Apple claims the new iPhone 12 Pro Max will offer the same battery life as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which is up to 20 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio playback.
We should see reports on the actual battery capacities of the iPhone 12 lineup over the next week or so, as the iPhone 12 models get into the hot little hands of teardown enthusiasts.
