Apple Reminds Developers to Submit App Privacy Info for App Store’s ‘Nutritional Label for Apps’

Apple on Tuesday reminded developers to submit the privacy information for their App Store apps, using App Store Connect. The information will be used to create the “nutritional labels for apps” that will be added to each app’s store listing.

The information will be required to submit new apps and app updates to the App Store, starting December 8. Existing apps will remain available for download.

The App Store will soon help users understand an app’s privacy practices before they download the app on Apple platform. On each app’s product page, users can learn about some of the data types the app may collect, and whether that data is linked to them or used to track them. If you haven’t already, enter your app’s privacy information in App Store Connect.

As a reminder, this information will be required to submit new apps and app updates to the App Store starting December 8, 2020. Existing apps will remain available for download.

The new privacy feature, announced at Apple’s WWDC last summer, will display what each app collects in the way of the data types collected and whether the data is used to link or track the user. Apple has referred to the new feature as “nutritional label for apps,” and developers are required to self-report the information.

Apple is planning to roll out the new privacy feature later this year.
