Pixel Pro Golf Brings Back Entertaining 8-Bit Golf Memories to Your iPhone and iPad

If you’re like me, you really enjoyed the old 8-bit golf games on the Nintendo, Atari, and Sega 9-bit consoles. Sure, I like playing golf on today’s consoles, but I just want to grab a club and hit the ball!

London-based indie developer Pixamo has released Pixel Pro Golf, its entertaining new arcade golf game for iOS devices. The game is a free download and is totally playable without ever spending a cent. or for a few bucks, you can turn off the ads and unlock everything in the game.

The game offers 16 beautiful golf courses, each gorgeously rendered to include unique styles and conditions, so each course is a true challenge. Golfers can play through each tournament, improving their ranking as they compete to become the top arcade golfer in the world.

The game offers a challenge but is easy to play. The gameplay is reminiscent of Mario Golf on the NES, and is just as much fun. I downloaded this game and then spent three hours playing it. It’s perfect for a few holes at break time or playing for hours. Just like real golf, only cuter and less frustrating. (Well, a little less frustrating.)

Game features include:

  • 16 unique courses
  • 192 holes
  • Addictive, fun gameplay
  • Beautiful pixel-art
  • Equipment upgrades
  • Quickplay
  • Relaxing audio
  • Game Center leaderboards, achievements, and challenges

The game offers a familiar three tap gameplay (tap once to start a swing, tap again to set the swing’s power, then tap a final time to set the accuracy of the shot). Players can select their club, aim their shot, and swing away.

Apple recently featured Pixel Pro Golf on the front page of the App Store, including it in the “5 New Games We Love” section, saying “This ticks all of our retro golf game boxes – quick to pick up and play? Tick! Courses with just the right level of challenge? Tick! Perfectly green pixel fairways and 16-bit blue skies? That’s a colossal tick. The whole game absolutely nails its 90’s aesthetic. We got a rush of nostalgia with every putt.”

Pixel Pro Golf 1.0.2 is free and is available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. [GET IT HERE]
