Intel Launches Anti-Mac Advertising Campaign Highlighting M1 Shortcomings

Apple launched its first M1 Macs last fall, which indicates the imminent breakup of Apple and Intel. Now, like a spurned lover, Intel has begun talking sh** on Twitter about Apple’s new Apple Silicon-powered Macs.

Intel has begun posting ads on Twitter, highlighting what it says are the shortcomings of Apple’s M1 Mac lineup. It does this in one ad to promote the gaming advantages of an Intel-powered PC, such as being able to run Rocket League, a game not available on the Apple platform.

The ads seem to be a series of ads featuring a reverse “you might be a redneck” approach.

Another ad points out the lack of a touchscreen on the Mac.

The links in the Twitter posts go to a video from Jon Rettinger demoing laptops equipped with Intel chips and comparing them to the ‌M1‌ Macs.

Earlier this week, Intel published a series of “carefully crafted” benchmarks designed to prove that Intel’s 11th-generation processors are better than the ‌M1‌ chips. However, the benchmarks were obviously designed to favor Intel machines, something described by Apple columnist Jason Snell as “M1-unfriendly.”

Apple plans to complete the move to its own silicon over the next two years, so it’s likely that we’ll continue to see more of Intel’s “Yeah? Well, M1 sucks” ad campaign.
