DigiTimes: iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max Could Feature Improved Ultra Wide Lens With Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization and Autofocus

According to sources referenced by a DigiTimes report, Apple’s “iPhone 13 Pro” and “iPhone 13 Pro Max” will boast an improved ultra-wide lens with the additions of sensor-shift image stabilization and autofocus.

The current flagship of the iPhone lineup, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, is the first and so far only iPhone to include sensor-shift optical image stabilization for its Wide lens. Sensor-shift optical image stabilization shifts the sensor itself instead of the lens, resulting in a sharper image.

The DigiTimes report says Apple will offer sensor-shift OIS for both the Wide and Ultra Wide lens on the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro and ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max. Earlier this year, DigiTimes reported that sensor-shift optical image stabilization will be a feature of the entire iPhone 13 lineup. (But, that’s the way the rumor mill works, I suppose.)

As always, these reports are to be taken with a grain of your favorite salt-free seasoning. We’ll keep you posted.
