Latest macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta Includes References to Two Unreleased iMac Models

Beta 5 of macOS Big Sur 11.3, which was released on Tuesday, contains references to two unreleased iMac models.

9to5Mac reports that macOS Big Sur 11.3 beta 5 contains references to two new iMac models, identified as “iMac21,1” and “iMac21,2.” The new Macs use the code names J456 and J457, which were first revealed earlier this year by Bloomberg.

While Apple hasn’t officially announced a release of new iMacs, there are reportedly new versions of the 21.5 and 27-inch ‌iMac‌ models being developed. The new iMacs are expected to sport a design similar to the Pro Display XDR with slimmer bezels and lacking a metal chin.

The new iMacs are also expected to feature a flat back, at least one of the new models will be a 23- or 24-inch model. The new iMac will be powered by Apple Silicon.

A report from last week said an unreleased Apple Silicon-based iMac was discovered in an Xcode crash log for the Mac app DaftCloud.

Apple recently discontinued the iMac Pro, which was a high-end ‌iMac‌ option that was first released in 2017.
