New Images Allegedly Show Smaller Notch for iPhone 13

Leaker “DuanRui” has shared images that allegedly give a peek at the redesigned front screen notch on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13. The leaker released similar images last week, but this round of pics includes a comparison with the current iPhone 12’s notch.

The three images tweeted by the leaker apparently originate from Weibo, although some details of the image source are unclear. All images appear to include what appear to be “film samples” or screen protectors similar to those shown in the previous images

The reduced width is allowed by the earpiece being integrated into the top bezel, above the TrueDepth camera and Face ID components, indicated by the space left in the middle. Previous leaks have also claimed the ‌iPhone 13‌’s TrueDepth camera array is narrowing because the receiver at the top of the display will move to the edge of the case.

DigiTimes reported in February that the ‌iPhone 13‌ will feature a redesigned Face ID system that will allow for a smaller notch at the top of the screen. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that the ‌iPhone 13‌ will boast a smaller notch, although he made no mention of the earpiece being repositioned.

The screen notch on the iPhone has gone unchanged since it first debuted on the iPhone X in 2017.
