iPad mini 6 to Boast 8.3-inch Display With No Home Button

Display analyst Ross Young says Apple’s sixth-generation iPad mini will sport an 8.3-inch display, which will be a significant bump up from the current iPad mini’s 7.9-inch display. The larger size is possible, thanks to a narrower bezel design and the removal of the Home button.

The statement is just the latest in a series of predictions about the upcoming iPad mini 6, which is expected to debut this fall.

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that the new iPad mini’s display could measure in at 8.5 to 9-inches. Meanwhile, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the iPad mini 6 will boast a larger display with thinner bezels.

DigiTimes report recently indicated that the new mini would have a mini-LED display. However, Young recently made comments that conflicted with that report.

While rumors were mixed on whether or not the new iPad mini would sport a Home button, but rumors now appear to be centering on an iPad Air 4-like design, lacking a Home button and either Face ID or Touch ID built into the tablet’s power button.

The new iPad mini may be powered by an A15 chip, and include a Smart Connector. It is also expected to have a USB-C port in place of a Lightning port.
