Ming-Chi Kuo: Redesigned 14-Inch and 16-Inch MacBook Pro Still on Schedule for Mass Production in Q3

Apple is still on schedule to begin mass production of its upcoming revamped 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED displays in the third quarter of 2021, says Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. That information comes in an investor note obtained and shared by MacRumors.

We’ve seen several reports that have targeted the third quarter of 2021 as the timeframe for new MacBook Pro releases. DigiTimes had previously reported that the new MacBook Pros would launch during the late part of the third quarter, possibly launching alongside the new iPhones in September.

However, Kup says that while mass production may kickoff in the third quarter (July to September), Apple may unveil the new MacBook Pro models at a separate event in October or November, keeping it separate from the iPhone and Apple Watch launches in September.

Kuo also says the continued struggles and shortages associated with mini-LED displays may lead Apple to announce the new MacBook Pro models, but not begin shipment of the new models until several weeks later. Kup has previously said that the new MacBook Pros will boast additional ports, will drop the Touch Bar, and will return to MagSafe for power.
