Here’s a Peek at Facebook’s Upcoming Smartwatch

Meta, the artist company formerly known as Facebook, has been working on a smartwatch designed to compete with the Apple Watch, and Bloomberg has obtained pictures of the device.

The smartwatch has a design that resembles the Apple Watch, but has a wider and rounder design, with more curved edges. A camera is stationed at the bottom of the display, while a control button is located on the right side of the watch. Bloomberg says the watch features a detachable wrist strap and a button at the top of the case.

Previous reports have indicated that the watch will boast a detachable display with two built-in cameras to allow users to take pictures and videos for sharing to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The front-facing camera will be used for video calls, while the camera located on the back can capture photos when the body is detached from the stainless steel watch frame.

The Facebook Watch will boast a cellular connection and users will be able to send messages to friends and family via messaging apps like WhatsApp and Messenger. Built-in health tracking features will also be included, including a heart rate monitor.

Meta is planning to launch the watch as early as 2022, but there is no announced release date as yet.
