China-Based BOE Rumored to be Ready to Provide Displays for iPhone 15 Pro in 2023

Chinese display maker BOE will provide OLED LTPO displays for the higher-end version of Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup in 2023, says a new report from The Elec.

BOE failed to meet standards in 2020 to be allowed to produce display panels for the iPhone 12. However, the firm joined Apple’s list of display makers to produce panels for the baseline 6.1-inch iPhone 13 earlier this year. The more advanced displays, used in Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max displays, are manufactured by Samsung.

The Elec report says BOE is looking to expand its ability to manufacture OLED LTPO displays, which enable a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz, in time for the 2023 ‌iPhone‌ 15 Pro. As for the iPhone 14, which will debut this fall, BOE will continue to manufacture displays for only the lower-end iPhones, while Samsung and LG will provide displays for the “Pro” models.
