Bloomberg’s Gurman: Apple Event on March 8 to Debut New iPhone SE, iPad Air

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman over the weekend said that Apple has a virtual event planned for March 8, where it will debut a third-generation iPad SE and a new iPad Air model. Both devices are expected to support 5G connectivity and be powered by an A15 chip. Gurman’s comments came from his latest Power On newsletter.

Gurman also mentioned that Apple will launch at least one new Mac this spring, but it isn’t clear whether or not the new Mac will be unveiled at the March 8 event. The new Mac could be a high-end Mac, powered by an M1 Pro or M1 Mac chip. An Apple Silicon-powered replacement for the 27-inch iMac isn’t expected to debut until August or September.

Gurman sees Apple removing the Touch Bar from its new entry-level MacBook Pro, and he doesn’t expect the notebook to boast a ProMotion display.

Gurman says at least four new M2-powered Macs are in the pipeline, and he expects refreshed models of the MacBook Air, entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro, 24-inch iMac, and entry-level Mac mini. The new models will likely launch later in the year. Apple could release its final Macs powered by M1 Pro and M1 Max chips between now and then.
