Rumor Mill: Apple Investigating 20-Inch All-Screen Foldable MacBook, Foldable iPhone Delayed Until 2025

Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young (who has had accurate insights into Apple’s plans in the past), says that while Apple has likely delayed its foldable iPhone until 2025, it is also taking a look at producing an all-screen foldable MacBook.

Young offered up the information in a new DSCC report covering foldable and rollable devices. Young said Apple’s long-expected foldable iPhone has been delayed until 2025. Other reports have indicated that a launch could occur as soon as 2023 or 2024. Young’s communication with supply chain sources indicates that Apple is taking its time in entering the foldable phone market.

Young says Apple is allegedly exploring the possibility of selling an all-screen MacBook model. The company is reportedly discussing the possibility of foldable notebooks with approximately 20-inch displays with its supplier.

Young said the device could be the start of a new product category for Apple, as the product would be dual-use, working as a notebook with a full-size on-screen keyboard when folded and as a monitor when unfolded and used with an external keyboard. Resolutions for the new device could be 4K or higher, Young added.

The foldable notebook would likely not hit shelves until 2026 or 2027, says Young.
