Rumors Beat: Apple Car Autopilot System to be Connected to New Korean Supplier

A new report from The Elec claims that Apple is working with an unspecified South Korean company to develop an autopilot processor for the much-rumored “Apple Car.” The report claims the Cupertino firm has been working with the South Korean firm for nearly a year.

The report claims that an OSAT (outsourced semiconductor assembly and test) company has been working with Apple on an autopilot chip module. The report’s unnamed sources claim that the project began in 2021. It is expected to complete in 2023.

Few further details are available. However, the publication says that its sources tell it that the processor, and its outsourcing to an OSAT firm, resemble how Tesla created its autopilot.

The report claims Apple Korea selected the South Korean OSAT company. Apple Korea was reportedly tasked with working with South Korean countries when it was developing the M1 processor. However, there is no evidence to support that claim.
