Apple Debuts Third-Generation iPhone SE With A15 Bionic Chip, 5G Connectivity, More

Apple today held its “Peek Performance” event, where it debuted its third-generation iPhone SE, which boasts the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13 lineup. The new handset also sports improved battery life, a new camera system, and more.

The new iPhone SE upgrades include the A15 Bionic, which Apple says “powers advanced camera capabilities and makes nearly every experience better.” Along with 5G, the new iPhone SE boasts longer battery life, and improved durability. The new handsets is available in three colors — midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED.  The new iPhone SE’s starting price is $429, making it the lowest-priced iPhone.

“iPhone SE has been an incredibly popular choice with our existing users and for new iPhone customers, thanks to its iconic design, exceptional performance, and affordable price. This year we’ve built the most powerful and durable iPhone SE yet, with better battery life thanks to A15 Bionic, the same chip as our iPhone 13 lineup that also unlocks advanced camera features like Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. “And with 5G, iPhone SE gives users faster downloads and uploads, higher quality video streaming, real-time interactivity in apps, and much more. Delivering the latest generation of technology and performance at this price is something only Apple can do.”

The handset’s new 12MP Wide camera system offers a range of improvements and new features including Deep Fusion, Photographic Styles, Portrait Mode, and Smart HDR 4.

The new iPhone SE starts at $429, up from $399 on the 2020 model, and is available with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of storage. It will be available for pre-order this Friday, March 11, with availability beginning Friday, March 18.
