Apple Once Again GIving Stock Bonuses to Some Engineers to Encourage Them to Stay

Apple is once again giving stock bonuses to some engineers to encourage them to continue to work for the Cupertino firm. Bloomberg reports that select hardware and software engineers are receiving bonuses of up to $200k.

This is the second time in just a few month that Apple has provided stock bonuses to select engineers. In December, Apple handed out up to $180,000 in bonuses to select engineers in silicon design, hardware, and operations. Bloomberg source told them that fewer engineers are receiving the special grant this time around.

The bonuses, ranging from $100,000 to $200,000, have been provided in the form of restricted stock units that are set to vest over the course of four years, as long as the employees continue to work for Apple.

Apple has been providing bonuses to encourage employee to stay and to prevent companies like Meta from luring its top talent away from the fold.

Meta has hired close to 100 engineers from Apple in recent months, recruiting from Apple’s augmented reality, AI, and engineering divisions. Meta and Apple compete in many of the same arenas, as Meta is currently working on an Apple Watch competitor that it expects to launch in the near future, while Apple is working on an AR/VR headset that will compete with Meta’s Oculus VR headsets.
