Apple has released watchOS 8.5, an update to the watchOS 8 operating system. The update comes more than two months after the watchOS 8.4 update.
watchOS 8.5 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to “General” -> “Software Update.” The Apple Watch needs to have at least 50% battery charge, needs to be on a charger, and needs to be in the range of the iPhone.
The watchOS 8.5 update is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
watchOS 8.5 introduces support for Emoji 14 characters, plus it includes improvements to Apple’s irregular heart rhythm feature that notifies users if atrial fibrillation is detected.
