Apple’s New 5G ‌iPhone SE‌ Shipments Expected to Reach 30 Million Units in 2022

Apple’s New 5G ‌iPhone SE‌ Shipments Expected to Reach 30 Million Units in 2022

Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE with 5G connectivity will go on sale on Friday, and DigiTimes research analysts Sean Lin and Luke Lin estimate that Apple’s new ‌iPhone SE‌ shipments are expected to reach 30 million units in 2022.

Apple has reportedly prepared components for just under five million units of the new ‌iPhone SE‌ in the first quarter of 2022, but actual shipments for the entry-level smartphone are expected to be lower than that during the first quarter.

Second-quarter shipments are expected to rise to 11 million units, with volumes in the third quarter expected to remain around the same amount before slowing down in the fourth quarter.

DigiTimes says the availability of the new ‌iPhone SE‌ is expected to significantly increase 5G handset shipments to non-China markets in 2022. Customers are expected to be attracted by the iPhone SE’s lower price as well as its physical home button, which many users prefer.

280 million 5G handsets were shipped to non-China markets in 2021. Analysts expect that number to rise sharply in 2022, rising by over 60% to over 450 million units, accounting for 63.5% of worldwide volumes. However, in China shipment growth is expected to be limited to the single digits.
