Apple Releases macOS Monterey 12.4 to Public – Includes Support for Studio Display Webcam Update

Apple on Monday released macOS Monterey 12.4 to the public. The fourth major update to macOS Monterey, which launched in October 2021, comes two months after the release of macOS Monterey 12.3.

The macOS Monterey 12.4 update can be downloaded to compatible Macs via the Software Update section of System Preferences. Like all Mac updates, ‌the macOS Monterey 12.4 update is available free of charge. The update is also available in the Mac App Store.

Apple has also released a macOS Big Sur 11.6.6 update for those who are still running Big Sur, as well as a macOS Catalina 2022-004 security update.

As of the release of the macOS Monterey‌ 12.4 and iPadOS 15.5 updates, ‌Universal Control‌ is no longer in beta. Universal Control‌ was introduced in March and it allows users to use a single mouse/trackpad and keyboard across multiple Macs and iPads.

macOS Monterey‌ 12.4 also adds support for the 15.5 firmware, which is designed to improve the webcam quality.

An update for the Podcasts app is also part of the update, and it now includes a setting that limits the number of episodes stored on a Mac and automatically deletes older ones.
