Entry-Level iPad to Boast Larger Display, A14 Chip, USB-C and 5G

Apple is working on a revamped entry-level 10th-generation iPad, which will include several updates that will bring its feature set a bit closer to that of the rest of the iPad lineup, says a report by 9to5Mac.

The new iPad is said to replace the device’s Lightning port with a USB-C port, bringing it on par with the rest of the iPad lineup.

The updated tablet is expected to boast a larger 10.5-inch display, which would be a nice bump up from the current 10.2-inch display. Display analyst Ross Young, who has been accurate in the past with info on Apple’s display plans, has also stated that the ‌iPad‌ will have a 10.5-inch display.

9to5Mac also says Apple will update the iPad with the A14 Bionic chip, which was first used in the iPhone 12 lineup and the fourth-generation iPad Air.

Apple will also add 5G connectivity to the base-level iPad, allowing it to connect to and benefit from 5G networks. There was no mention of any design updates, so we don’t know if Apple has plans to add a Touch ID button in the power button, or if the firm will stick with a Home button.

Apple is likely to update the low-cost ‌iPad‌ sometime during fall 2022.
