Facing Supply Chain Issues, Apple Allows Customers to Take Devices Home While Waiting for Parts

A report by MacRumors today says Apple, facing ongoing supply chain issues, is now allowing customers to take their devices back home with them if a repair will take longer than expected, due to a lack of parts. Customers can then return the device for repair once the part finally arrives.

Once a customer is notified that the required part has arrived, they will have five days to return the device back to the service center before the repair is canceled.

The new policy is currently in force in select locations, and the service center makes the call as to whether the customer is eligible to take their device back home while waiting for parts to arrive. As you might expect, the policy applies only to devices that are still in a usable state.

Ongoing supply chain delays have impacted Apple and other electronics firms. Apple has faced issues that have impacted both the iPhone and the Mac over the last several months. MacRumors source told it that repair parts for the MacBook Pro are currently taking up to two months to be available in certain regions.

Meanwhile, several other MacBook components, such as batteries, keyboards, and the internal chassis, could take several weeks.
