Apple Had M1 Mac Pro Ready to Go Month Ago, Decided to Hold Off for ‘M2 Mac Extreme’ Model

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple had a Mac Pro model powered by its own M1 chip ready for launch “months ago.” However, Gurman says the Cupertino firm decided to wait to release an “M2 Extreme” Mac Pro later this year.

Gurman’s comments came during an interview with YouTuber Max Tech. Gurman expects that a preview of the high-end Apple silicon ‌Mac Pro‌ will occur later this year with a launch in early 2023.

During the interview, Gurman also said he does not expect the Mac mini to get a redesign, despite rumors that have indicated the mini could get a facelift. Gurman says a refreshed ‌Mac mini‌ will simply be an internal spec bump to the ‌M2‌ chip.
