Canada Gives Regulatory Approval for watchOS 9’s AFib History Feature

Canadian officials have given regulatory approval to AFib History, which is a new health feature included in Apple’s upcoming watchOS 9 Apple Watch operating system. Canada is the second country to give approval to the feature, following the United States lead.

Health Canada yesterday approved the AFib History for both the Apple Watch and the iPhone, regulatory filings show.

The AFib History feature allows users to access an estimate of how frequently a user’s heart rhythm shows signs of AFib, receive weekly notifications to understand the frequency, and view a detailed history in the Health app. Users can also download a PDF with a detailed history of their AFib and lifestyle factors, which can easily be shared with doctors and care providers for more informed conversations.

The feature is intended for individuals aged 22 years or older who have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation.
