Bloomberg’s Gurman: Apple Has Wrapped Up Development of iOS 16

In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says Apple engineers have wrapped up development of the initial release of iOS 16 as of last week. This means that Apple will be focusing its efforts on squashing bugs in the release before the update is released to the public.

Gurman says he expects iOS 16 and watchOS 9 to be released in September alongside new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models, while iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura will be released in October.

The iOS 16.0 update, which Apple engineers finished work on this past week, is due to launch in September alongside watchOS 9. Those updates will correspond with the new hardware. The macOS Ventura and iPadOS upgrades, on the other hand, are now scheduled for October (after Stage Manager-related delays to the iPad software) to match the new hardware lineup.

Gurman recently said Apple will hold a media event on Wednesday, September 7, where the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 lineups will be unveiled.
