Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman: M1 Pro Mac Mini ‘Now Off the Table,’ Apple Turns Focus to M2 and M2 Pro Options

Apple has dropped its plans for a new Mac mini model powered by an M1 Pro chip, says Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter.

Gurman says Apple had been working on an M1 Pro Mac mini with the intent to debut the device at the end of 2021 or the start of 2022. Gurman had previously said the Cupertino firm is now focusing on M2 and M2 Pro-powered Mac mini models.

Apple updated the base-level Mac mini with the M1 chip back in November 2020. Apple still offers an Intel-powered model.

In March, well-connected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple will not launch a new Mac mini until 2023. He says the new Mac mini will not “be getting any major redesign in the near term.” Gurman agrees with that prediction.
