Microsoft Removing SwiftKey for iPhone from App Store

Microsoft Removing SwiftKey for iPhone from App Store

Microsoft has confirmed that it is removing its SwiftKey swipe keyboard from the iOS App Store on October 5, 2022. Existing owners can continue to use it for now.

Microsoft SwiftKey is an intelligent swiping keyboard that learns your writing style, so you can type faster. Users enter characters by swiping their finger over the glass instead of typing out individual letters.

This type of custom iOS keyboard had been quite popular back in the day, but as of iOS 13 in 2019, iOS has offered a similar type of keyboard called QuickPath.

“As of October 5, support for SwiftKey iOS will end and it will be delisted from the Apple App Store,” a spokesperson told ZDNet. “For those customers who have SwiftKey installed on iOS, it will continue to work until it is manually uninstalled or a user gets a new device.”

Microsoft’s spokesperson also directed users to a support page, but currently that page offers no additional details.

Microsoft will continue to support SwiftKey on Android.
