Apple Confirms iOS 16.2 Will Enable 5G for iPhone in India on Select Carriers

Apple’s upcoming beta of iOS 16.2 will enable 5G access for iPhone users in India on select carriers. Apple broke the news to Indian Express. Apple did not announce a specific date for the developer and public releases of the next iOS 16.2 beta.

Apple has been working with carriers in India, including Airtel and Jio, to bring 5G support to ‌iPhone‌ users in the country. Apple said it would begin its 5G rollout in the country in December. Now, users on Airtel and Jio networks will gain access to faster 5G connectivity.

A few weeks back, following pressure from the Indian government to enable 5G services on its devices in India, Apple had said it will roll out the software update needed for users in December. The beta rollout is a precursor to this and will give Apple the feedback needed to fix flaws with the service if any.

The Apple Beta Software Program allows Apple device users to try out pre-release software and test the latest features before the software publicly rolls out.
