Apple Said to be Preparing a Bid for English Premier League Streaming Rights

The Daily Mail reports Apple is preparing a bid for the English Premier League (EPL) streaming rights in the United Kingdom.

The publication claims that the Cupertino firm is anxious to increase its sports coverage by building on the decade-long contract it recently secured to exclusively stream Major League Soccer on Apple TV+ beginning next month.

Apple has already dabbled in the Premier League market by making a documentary about the European Super League, called The War for Football, which was released last week.

The Premier League’s current three-year streaming deal with Sky Sports and BT Sport expires in 2025, with the bidding process for the next set of rights due to begin later this year. Those negotiations will likely see a large increase in the current £5.1 billion ($6.23 billion) valuation for domestic EPL rights.
