A new report claims Apple’s next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which will likely be powered by M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, may be facing additional delays.
A new report from DigiTimes indicates that the new models may be facing additional delays. However, it does not indicate when the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro line will launch.
14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models were widely expected to see a release before the end of 2022.
However, during October’s quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said that Apple’s product lineup “was set,” implying that no new MacBook Pro models would debut before year’s end.
The DigiTimes report said sources told it that shipments of the Apple MacBook will likely drop 40-50% sequentially in the first quarter of 2023.
Apple partner TSMC recently began mass production of its 3-nanometer chip process for use in the next generations of Mac, iPhone, and other Apple devices.
TSMC is producing the chips at its southern Taiwan facility. The 3-nanometer chips will offer improved performance over the current 5-nanometer chips but with 35% less power use.
