New Apple TV 4K Owners Experiencing Siri Remote Connection Issues

Multiple third-generation Apple TV 4K owners are reporting connection issues with their Siri Remote that are only temporarily resolved by either restarting the remote or power cycling the set-top box.

MacRumors reports that several MacRumors forum and Reddit threads are bringing attention to the issue, which seems to be caused by the Siri Remote’s inconsistent Bluetooth connection with the latest Apple TV 4K, even at close proximity.

Greetings all,

I recently bought a new apple tv 2022 model, and I’m facing an issue with the remote losing connection after I turn off the device. The only way to turn on the device is to plug it out and replug it, and that’s when the remote reconnects again. I tried resetting the remote and repairing it but with no luck. FYI, this is the 2nd apple tv 2022 that I’m facing the same issue with (returned the original device for this replacement). I also previously had a 2021 model and never faced this issue with it. Is anyone facing this issue, and if so, what can be the solution? Thank you.

The issue doesn’t rear its ugly head when users are controlling their Apple TV 4K with the Remote app on their iPhone or with their TV remote via HDMI-CEC. This suggests the issue does lie with the pairing between the remote and the Apple TV.

Some of the posts indicate that the problem began for some users after updating to tvOS 16.2.

Some users report going through several Apple TV 4K replacement units from Apple, with mixed results.
