Apple Permanently Closes Its Charlotte, North Carolina Store Following Multiple Shootings at Mall

Apple has closed its Northlake Mall location in Charlotte, North Carolina after multiple shootings at the mall, says a report from Bloomberg. While the store was open on Wednesday morning, employees had been informed that the location would shut down immediately.

The Northlake Mall store’s website says that the store is “temporarily closed:”

Thank you for visiting.

In preparation for a new store we plan to open in the Charlotte area early next year, we will be permanently closing Wednesday, March 1st at 4pm.

All of our team members will continue to support our Charlotte customers at Apple SouthPark and the Apple Store Online.

Charlotte customers can visit the Apple SouthPark location.

Bloomberg says that three recent shootings in the mall “contributed” to Apple’s decision to close immediately. The relocation of the Charlotte store had been planned before the shutdown.

Apple told employees that there will be no layoffs and that employees at the Northlake Mall site would be transferred to the nearby SouthPark location in Charlotte or take on roles working at the company’s online store.
