YouTube TV’s Monthly Tariff Goes up to $73 Per Month

Remember when you canceled your cable TV subscription and instead subscribed to a streaming TV service because it was cheaper? Yeah, how’s that working out for you lately?

YouTube today announced that it is increasing the price of the YouTube TV service by eight bucks per month. The cost will go from $65 to $73 starting today. New members will pay $73 per month for the streaming service starting today, with prices for existing members increasing on April 18.

YouTube says it’s increasing the price because “content costs have risen” and it needs to charge more to “bring you the best possible TV service.”

There is some good news for YouTube TV subscribers who pay extra for 4K content. YouTube is dropping the price of its 4K content add-on by ten bucks. The add-on was priced at $19.99 per month but is now dropping to $9.99 per month. This means subscribers to YouTube TV with 4K will now pay $83 instead of $85.

YouTube TV is an American streaming live television service operated by YouTube, that was founded in 2017 and originally cost $35 per month, so the price for the service has more than doubled since it first became available. The streaming TV service offers more than 100 channels and add-on subscriptions are available for HBO Max and other premium channels. The service is currently only available in the continental United States. Up to six people in the same household can watch the service, and unlimited cloud DVR storage is also a feature.
