Apple Watch Track Detection Feature Has Expanded to France and the Netherlands

French tech blog WatchGeneration reports that the Apple Watch’s Running Track Detection feature has gone live in France and the Netherlands.

The Track Detection feature on the Apple Watch uses an Apple Maps database and GPS to automatically detect when the user is running on an outdoor running track. Users can select which lane of the track they are running in to receive more accurate distance measurements and a more precise route map. There is also an option to receive lap alerts that show distance, time, and pace as you complete each lap.

The feature is available on the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer running watchOS 9.2 and later.

The function first rolled out in the United States last year, and in February rolled out to Canada, Australia, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
