Apple TV+ and Sports Business Executive Pete Distad Leaves Company

The exodus of Apple services executives continues, as Apple TV+ and Sports Business services leader Pete Distad is set to put the company in his rear-view mirror, says a report from Bloomberg. Distad is in charge of the business and operations side of the Apple TV app, Apple TV+, and Apple’s sports programming.

Distad was initially hired in August 2013, and before joining Apple, he was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Distribution at Hulu. While at Apple, Distad pulled off deals with Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball, and he has led Apple TV+ content deals since 2017. Distad reports to Oliver Schusser, who directly reports to Eddy Cue.

Apple will promote Jim DeLorenzo to handle sports content, and the company is in search of a replacement to handle the TV business side of things.

Distad is the third services executive to find greener pastures in recent months, as his departure comes in the wake of services business head Peter Stern and cloud services lead Michael Abbott.
