Shazam Now Provides Support for Apple Music Classical

Apple today updated Shazam to provide support for Apple Music Classical on the iPhone, allowing the two apps to team up to identify classical music.

The release notes for version 15.33 of the Shazam app are as follows:

You can now open classical songs from Shazam in the Apple Music Classical app. Simply Shazam or search for a classical song, tap the menu icon on the track page and select “Open in Classical.”

Launched in March, Apple Music Classical offers a simple interface for engaging with classical works. Users can search recordings by composer, work, conductor, or catalog number. Music can be streamed in high-quality audio of up to 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless. Thousands of recordings are available in Apple’s immersive spatial audio.

Apple has commissioned high-resolution digital portraits of famous composers like Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach for the app, with more artwork to be added over time. Apple has been working with classical music artists and institutions to offer exclusive content and recordings.

‌Apple Music‌ Classical only supports iOS devices running iOS 15.4 or newer. An Android version of the app will arrive “soon.”

Apple acquired Shazam in 2018 for a reported $400 million.
