New Report Says iPad Pros With 11-Inch and 13-Inch OLED Displays to Enter Production Early 2024

Korean website The Elec reports that mass production of new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models with OLED displays will begin in the first quarter of 2024, according to research firm Omdia. Apple already uses OLED displays for the latest iPhone and Apple Watch models, other than the lower-priced iPhone SE.

Apple is expected to use very thin hybrid OLED displays manufactured with a combination of flexible and rigid materials, which could allow for a slightly thinner iPad Pro. The next-generation iPad Pro is expected to be more expensive, as the panels will be costly to manufacture, says Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants.

iPad Pro models released in 2017 and later offer ProMotion support, allowing for a variable refresh rate between 24Hz and 120Hz. OLED displays would likely allow for the iPad display refresh rate to go as low as 10Hz or lower, providing battery life improvements.

Using OLED technology for iPad Pro displays could result in lowered power consumption, increased display brightness, higher contrast ratio, and better color accuracy compared to existing models with LCD panels.
