Apple Studio Display 17 Firmware Release Candidate Now Available to Developers

The new 17 firmware Release Candidate that’s designed for the Studio Display has been released to developers for testing. The update comes two weeks after the fourth beta.

While all Studio Displays are able to receive over-the-air firmware updates, this firmware update is currently limited to Macs that are running the new macOS Sonoma operating system. After installing the macOS Sonoma beta, Studio Display owners can go to “System Preferences” -> “Software Update” to install the firmware.

Both ‌macOS Sonoma‌ and the new Studio Display firmware will see a release on September 26.

As is usual for beta updates, Apple and Mactrast strongly recommend not installing beta firmware on your daily driver Studio Display, instead reserving beta usage on units set aside for testing and development.
