iFixit iPhone 15 Pro Max Teardown Provides a Closer Look at Device’s Components

Repair website iFixit on Monday shared a video showing the teardown of the new iPhone 15 Pro Max, providing a closer look inside the most expensive iPhone 15 model.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s internals boast a design similar to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, although the new handset has a redesigned frame the allows the back glass on the 15 Pro Max to be easily removed. This has resulted in lower repair costs for customers who need a cracked glass repaired and lack AppleCare+ coverage.

The teardown video also provides a brief peek at the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s upgraded Telephoto lens with a tetraprism system, which enables 5x optical zoom. The Main and Ultra Wide lenses on the device appear to be identical to those found on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

iFixit says the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s logic board is similar to the board in the iPhone 15 Pro. As we already knew, the A17 Pro chip powers the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the device is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X70 modem, which reportedly provides faster 5G speeds as expected.

iFixit gave the iPhone 15 Pro Max a low repairability score of 4/10. Part of the reason for the low score is due to Apple’s parts repairing requirement, making it more difficult for independent repair shops.
