Research Firm Says iPhone 15 Camera Upgrades Will Be ‘Star of the Show’ at Wonderlust’ Event

Apple is expected to debut its new iPhone 15 lineup at a press event to be held on Tuesday, September 12. Taiwanese research firm TrendForce says camera upgrades across the devices will be the “star of the show.” The firm says the upgrades are a “pivotal factor” that “could tip the scales for potential buyers.”

As previously reported, TrendForce said both the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be equipped with a stacked camera sensor supplied by Sony. This sensor should be able to capture more light, allowing for improved dynamic range in photos.

TrendForce also backed up previous rumors that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will boast a periscope telephoto lens that improves the handset’s optical zoom capabilities. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said the lens will allow for up to 5x or 6x optical zoom. The current iPhone 14 Pro is limited to 3x optical zoom.

Trendforce also said all four iPhone 15 models will be equipped with a USB-C port and the Dynamic Island, as previously rumored.

Other new “Pro” features are expected to include a lighter-weight titanium frame, a customizable Action button, an A17 Bionic chip, Wi-Fi 6E support, and more.
