Apple is likely planning to hold a Mac-related media event that will be held on either Monday, October 30, or Tuesday, October 31, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
The reporter says his prediction is based on information obtained from sources with knowledge of Apple’s plans, as well as the fact that some current Mac models are in short supply, both online and at the retail level.
Gurman notes that several configurations of Apple’s 24-inch iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are facing shipping delays running into mid-November. Gurman says that the delay alone is “a clear sign that something is about to happen.”

Another reason for expecting a Mac announcement for next week: Apple’s earnings call is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 2. The last time the company posted its quarterly results in the month of November was in 2018, and that followed an October 30 launch event that saw new iPads and Macs.
Gurman expects the most likely Mac to debut this month is a new 24-inch iMac. This is likely due to the fact that the current iMac lineup hasn’t received an update for more than 900 days. It is also the only M1-powered Mac still in the lineup.
He also believes that Apple may also drop new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, even though Apple just updated its premium MacBook Pros in January 2023. However, Gurman says, “an additional update the same year would be unusual, but not inconceivable.”
Gurman says he doesn’t expect any major changes for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, other than new processors. However, the new MacBook Pro models could boast “minor improvements to displays.”
