Car Smashes Through Glass Entrance in Illinois Apple Store in Possible Burglary Attempt

Naperville, Chicago police are investigating a possible burglary attempt at a local Apple Store after hours. Police responded after they received a report of a vehicle driving into the Naperville Apple Store at 120 West Jefferson Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found a silver-colored automobile had crashed through the front glass entrance of the store. The driver had already left the scene, reports the Chicago Tribune. Police discovered the security shutters of the store were partially open. A police officer said the car drove “straight through the parking lot” across the street before entering the storefront.

Apple Store employees on the scene could not confirm if any merchandise had been taken from the store. Apple has yet to comment on the incident.

This isn’t the first incident at the Naperville Apple Store in previous years. In 2010, more than $24,000 in merchandise was stolen from the store during an early morning break-in.
